Commitment and Hard Work Lead to Success

Nuriya Seid Muktar is a shining example of resilience, determination, and entrepreneurial success. A client of VisionFund Microfinance Institution for over 10 years. Her husband Alemayehu Eshete is a retired government employee. Nuriya began her journey with a first group loan of 800 ETB. At that time, she was a stay-at-home mother, fully devoted to raising her eight children and managing household responsibilities.

For the first four years, Nuriya participated in the group loan modality and received small amounts with her relatives to start business. With each loan cycle, she carefully invested in her small petty trade business, selling household items/equipment in Guder and surrounding areas. Her business and work ethic helped her gradually grow her income and gain the confidence to transition to an indvidual loan modality using her house as a collateral, where her first individual loan was 400,000 ETB.

Through consistent hard work, strategic planning, and unwavering support from her husband (who now plays an advisory role in her business), Nuriya’s business flourished. Today, she is in her 10th loan cycle and has accessed a loan of 1.5 million ETB. Her business has expanded into a well-established household equipment store, generating a monthly net income of 40,000 ETB.

In addition to her retail business, Nuriya has invested in commercial building. She constructed four commercial rental shops, each generating 6,000 ETB per month, bringing in a total of 24,000 ETB monthly rental income. Her current capital is estimated at 25 million ETB.

The impact of Vision Fund Microfinance loan service in Nuriya’s life goes beyond numbers. With improved financial stability, she has transformed her family’s standard of living by providing quality education for her children, ensuring access to healthcare, clean water, and hygienic living conditions. Some of her children are now living abroad and in Addis Ababa, a testament to the opportunities she created through her hard work and smart investments.

Looking to the future, Nuriya aspires to scale her business even further. She plans to build more commercial shops for rent and purchase transportation vehicles, both for business logistics and personal use. Her goal is not only to grow her wealth but also to create job opportunities for others in the community and become a model entrepreneur in the town of Guder.

Nuriya extends her heartfelt gratitude to Vision Fund Microfinance Institution for the financial support that helped change her life. She is a living example of how microfinance can empower women to rise from humble beginnings to become influential business leaders and community changemakers.
